With the holiday season in full effect, you may find your family, friends, or other loved ones stopping by to visit you. While it can be a great time visiting with your favorite people, the non-humans that reside in your house can cause your guests to suffer severe allergic reactions. If you have pets, consider the tips we have listed below to help keep your guests breathing easily and out of the hospital this holiday season:

1. Give Your Pet the Gift of a Vacation

If you are expecting guests to visit, and know one or some may suffer from pet allergies, it may be wise to send your pet on a mini vacation. You may be surprised to find how many pet-sitting businesses actually pamper animals while their owners are away!

2. Designate One Room for Your Pet(s) When Guests Come Over

If you are unable to leave your pet at a pet daycare, confine your pet to a single room that guests will be less likely to enter. This can keep pet dander out of areas where guests may spend their time.

3. Clean like Crazy!

Once your pets are on vacation or confined to a single space, vacuum your carpet, furniture, and curtains to ensure the maximum amount of pet danger and hair is removed. Wipe down any shelves, cracks, or areas where dander is likely to accumulate. It may be wise to invest in cleaning appliances designed to handle high volumes of pet dander, hair, and fur.

4. Purchase Allergy Medicine for Forgetful Guests

Most people who suffer severe allergies carry allergy medication with them at all times. However, your forgetful guests may pay you a visit. To be sure you can help a guest, stock up on some allergy medicines. Your allergy-suffering guests will be thankful if they ever forget their own!
