FREE Sports & Exercise Asthma Screen

If you live in Georgia, you probably already know that summer seasonal allergies are in full swing and autumnal allergies are already showing up. Many Georgians have already experienced fall ragweed allergy symptoms, including coughing, wheezing, and asthma problems and flare-ups. With many schools throughout the state going back in session, young children and teenagers are also more prone than ever to asthma complications due to sports participation and exercise.

At the Center for Allergy and Asthma of Georgia, we want all the members of our communities to be as safe and comfortable as can be. To help achieve this goal, we are proud to offer FREE sports and exercise asthma screenings to new and returning patients. We have multiple offices throughout Georgia and will do our best to work you into an open schedule availability at the office nearest you. We want to get as many people in for a free screening as possible before fall asthma problems become more widespread.

Many children in particular will not be aware of asthmatic symptoms and triggers until they are participating in sports and exercise at school. They might be unable to keep up with other students and feel a general shortness of breath. We have helped many young patients who say that their coach told them to keep running, only to have symptoms worsen. When they come to see Dr. Eugene Hurwitz at one of our clinics, they often require medicine, inhalers, or at least information about slowing warmups.

Our free sports and exercise asthma screening will include:

  • Questionnaire about symptoms related to asthma.
  • Breathing test (spirometry).
  • Consultation with one of our allergy and asthma experts.
  • Information about healthcare providers if serious issues are detected.

The free screening could help prevent or reduce:

  • Fall allergy complications
  • Asthma triggers
  • Coughing and wheezing
  • Exercise difficulty
  • Sinus issues and infections
  • Nasal congestion
  • Stuffiness
  • Breathing discomfort

Note: The free asthma screening is designed to detect potential asthma and allergy issues people may experience due to sports participation and exercise. The free screening should be utilized only by individuals who do or intend to participate in sports and regularly exercise.
