Does Bee Pollen Help with Allergies?

Many herbalists have claimed bee pollen is a great nutritional food for various health problems. However, research still hasn’t proven its effectiveness. Pollen contains minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates, protein, and lipids. It is collected off of the bodies of bees, and some pollen can even contain bee saliva.

In short-term doses, bee pollen appears to be safe. However, those who are allergic to bee stings or other bee-related products may experience a severe allergic reaction, including shortness of breath, swelling, hives, and anaphylaxis. It also shouldn’t be taken by pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Some claim bee pollen taken in larger and larger doses can reduce seasonal allergies over time. However, it is best to consult your doctor regarding how effective such treatment is and if you might have an adverse allergic reaction to the substance.

If you think the treatment is right for you, talk to your doctor as soon as possible.
